At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, we are dedicated to helping youth achieve their full potential. Our programs build strong educational foundations, teach practical life skills, and encourage the use of technology to prepare for future careers. By supporting our members, we help increase graduation rates, ensuring our members are ready for college, trade school, the military, or a fulfilling career. We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed and lead a bright future.
21st Century
The Nita Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program offers a wide range of academic enrichment for children in grades Pre-K through 12. These programs provide valuable learning opportunities during out-of-school time, including before and after school, as well as during the summer. Our focus includes academic support, social-emotional learning, STEM activities, tutoring, and physical activities, all designed to help students thrive.
STEM Mentoring
This group mentoring program is for youth ages 6–10 and brings together young people and mentors for exciting, hands-on STEM activities. With a special focus on conservation, STEM Mentoring helps kids explore science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and engaging way.
Aimed at 4th-8th graders, The Ultimate Journey is all about environmental education through fun, hands-on activities. In partnership with the National Park Service, this program helps youth develop a deep appreciation for the natural world and teaches them the importance of environmental stewardship.
Summer Academic Enrichment
To combat summer learning loss, this program offers hands-on ELA, Reading, and STEM activities for members in grades K–12. Each week features a different theme, with grade-specific lessons based on Tennessee State Standards, ensuring that learning continues all summer long.
BE GREAT: Graduate
This program is a comprehensive strategy aimed at helping students stay on track to graduate. Based on the University of Minnesota’s evidence-based model, Check and Connect, it focuses on building strong mentor-youth relationships, intentional tracking of progress, and enhanced communication between the Club, school, and home.
Project Learn
Project Learn builds on the knowledge and skills kids gain in school by engaging them in fun, academically beneficial activities at the Club. Based on research by Dr. Reginald Clark, this comprehensive program includes leisure reading, writing, discussions with knowledgeable adults, helping others, homework help, and games that develop cognitive skills. The goal is to reinforce what members learn in school and boost their academic success.
Homework Help / 21st Century Tutoring
These sessions are designed to help Club members ages 6-18 succeed academically. We provide homework help, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities, encouraging our members to become self-directed learners who are prepared for future challenges.
