Knoxville, TN – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTNV) is proud to announce the completion of its Life Skills Mentoring program, funded by the Taco Bell Foundation.

The Life Skills Mentoring model provides continued support for academic success, career exploration, and service learning in the development of a holistic approach to successful life skills for the future. The mentoring program was a great success because of the generosity of the Taco Bell Foundation. The program includes activities based on the following: BE GREAT: Graduate, Career Launch, Junior Staff, Keystone Club, and Academic Enrichment.

100 Boys & Girls Clubs members participated in Life Skills activities from the following Club sites and programs: Regal Entertainment Group Teen Center, DeBusk Family Club, Richard L. Bean, Montgomery Village, Walter P. Taylor Club Sites and College & Career Access Programs.

The value of the program is best described by a quote from one of the program’s participants, Kiana Patterson, “The Taco Bell mentoring program was a great resource for me in high school. I was able to learn about all of the college and career opportunities available in my community and with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. My mentor encouraged me to explore my career choice in depth and I’m currently attending college for nursing at UT.”

A new cycle of the Life Skills Mentoring program will begin in November.
