Meet Derrick

“The Club is my second home,” explains 15 year-old Derrick, a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley – Loudon County Club. “I’ve been coming to the Club since I was in Kindergarten, so it really is home for me. The staff are like family and I have made some great friends at the Club.

I’ve learned how to play the piano at the Club. Since I don’t have a piano at home, the Club is the only place that I can practice. Recording music is also a great thing to do at the Club. On the keyboard, there are certain keys that sound like other instruments, like the guitar. It’s inspiring to be able to create and record music in the Aaron Douglas Music Room.”
