We’re excited to announce that RCN Technologies has chosen Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTNV) as the recipient of their Laptop Adventure Program this year. The laptops donated to BGCTNV  will be used to support programming like:

Power Hour (homework help & tutoring): Sessions help Club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, high-yield learning activities, and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.

Money Matters: This program promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13-18 by building their basic money management skills. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save, and invest.

Distance Learning: This has increased in importance due to COVID-19 and the need for students to learn remotely. Students can take advantage of synchronous learning, where they connect with their teachers as well as classmates at the same time via video and can interact virtually during the lessons. Some students participate in asynchronous learning, where they self-study to complete assignments on their own.

Academic Innovation and Mentoring (AIM) Program: This program offers a range of evidence-based academic mentoring programs designed to improve performance in core subjects, provide experiential learning in science and arts, and promote deeper engagement of social and emotional components of academic success. In addition, AIM participants develop mentoring relationships to further sustain and grow academic and social-emotional gains.
