Meet Amy

“Girl Talk is a great program that I attend at my Boys & Girls Club,” explains 10-year-old Amy, a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley – Walter P. Taylor Club. “It’s all about girl power! We learn how to be powerful women who are strong and smart. We talk about things that are just for girls and I’ve learned a lot about myself and the things affecting girls.

I really enjoy arts and crafts at the Club. The staff taught us that art represents you. It does not have to be perfect; it just has to show who you are or express how you are feeling. Patterns represent your life, so sometimes it can be messy and sometimes it can be very straight lines. It’s fun to create things that are meaningful to me.”
