Meet Parker

“Hanging out with my friends after school at the Club is my favorite thing about the Boys & Girls Club,” says 11-year-old Parker, a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Anderson County. “It’s nice to just relax after school and talk with my friends. We talk about all sorts of things, but mainly what happened at school that day. Sometimes I have good days at school and sometimes school can be hard, so it helps to talk through everything with my friends at the Club, where everyone feels safe to share how they’re feeling.

The Club has taught me how to be more responsible. Before, I wouldn’t really pay attention to things, like what homework I had to do. But now with the Club’s help, I think I’m a really responsible kid. I get my homework done on time, I pay attention to my surroundings, and I take good care of my personal belongings.”
