Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTNV) has received $25,000 from the Y-12 Gives Foundation to fight childhood hunger.

These funds are being used to help fund BGCTNV’s Food for Thought Program for calendar year 2020 which includes three main components giving youth access to the food that they need to meet nutritional needs and build cognitive skills for the future. These components include:
(1) Healthy Habits Nutrition Program and Cooking Club, which engages youth in hands-on learning and cooking activities to teach nutrition and healthy eating concepts,
(2) Gardening Club, which teaches gardening skills and provides fresh fruit and vegetables to take home, and
(3) The Summer Breakfast Program, providing breakfast to Club youth that often do not have breakfast.

The program takes place across 16 Club sites in Knoxville (Knox County), Rocky Top (North Anderson County), Lenoir City (Loudon County), and Maryville, TN (Blount County).

“Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley is very grateful to the Y-12 Gives Foundation for their support, especially at this crucial time. We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of young people in our region and helping them succeed. This gift will help us meet the most basic needs kids have, at a very precarious time in our history. Thank you Y-12 Gives Foundation for your contribution to helping us build great futures for our members,” said Bart McFadden, President/CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.
