Big Bows, Bigger Spirit: Highlights from the Boys & Girls Clubs Cheer Competition!

The energy was high, the bows were big, and the spirit was even bigger at this year’s Boys & Girls Clubs Cheer Competition!

Members from across the Tennessee Valley brought their absolute best to the mat, showing our community what teamwork, dedication, and Club pride truly look like. We were thrilled to watch incredible performances from the following Clubs:

• Clark Family Club at Five Points

• Montgomery Village Club

• North Ridge Crossing Club

• South Knox Elementary Club

• Regal Teen Center

• Vestal Club

Mission in Motion

At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, our mission is to enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. This competition was a powerful, high-energy demonstration of that mission in action.

Each team spent weeks practicing chants, perfecting motions, and building routines. In doing so, they showcased not only their cheer skills, but also crucial life skills. Throughout the event, our core values were on full display:

• Respect: Teammates continuously encouraged one another, offering a sense of belonging and emotional safety.

• Responsibility: Members committed to weeks of rigorous practice and preparation.

• Integrity: Every participant performed with confidence, grace, and outstanding sportsmanship.

Unity On and Off the Mat

What made this competition especially meaningful was the overwhelming encouragement shared between the Clubs. Youth didn’t just cheer for their own teammates; they cheered for their peers from other Clubs, too. These moments modeled unity, kindness, and positive peer relationships, reflecting our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment where every young person feels seen, valued, and supported.

The True Victory

While our judges faced the incredibly difficult task of selecting award recipients, the true victory of the day was the personal growth we witnessed on the mat. Members stepped outside their comfort zones, strengthened their communication skills, built resilience, and proudly represented their Clubs in front of families, staff, and community supporters.

Events like the Cheer Competition showcase how Boys & Girls Clubs go far beyond standard programming. We build character, cultivate confidence, and create opportunities for youth to discover their strengths.
