General

1Which pre-onboarding checklist should I complete?
The "Prepare for your first day" page of this website explains which pre-service training you should complete. Anyone who will be working directly with youth, regardless of whether it is in a paid capacity or not, will complete the training for youth-serving staff. This includes volunteers, interns and those in contracted roles.

If you will be primarily working in an administrative role (non-Club location), please check your email for training instructions.
2I'm having trouble accessing the online training. What should I do?
It is very important that you complete your pre-onboarding checklist prior to your first day of work! Please use the help documents below and do not hesitate to contact Human Resources at hr@bgctnv.org if you are still having trouble.

For help accessing Spillett Leadership University resources, please see this help document

3How do I know if I need to complete the SIDS training?
Only employees assigned to work in a pre-K setting are required to complete the SIDS training. Likely, you either applied to and were hired specifically to a pre-K role or this information would have been shared with you during your interview process. If you are still unsure, please reach out to your hiring manager for confirmation.
4Why are there so many trainings to complete before starting?
That's a great question!

Because our Boys & Girls Clubs receive state and federal funding, we must comply with all health and safety training requirements laid out by various state and federal agencies (such as the TN Department of Education, the TN Department of Human Services, and the Child Care Development Fund, to name a few). Many of these agencies require employees to complete numerous trainings BEFORE working directly with children. We have done our best to simplify the process, but we understand it is a lot for new employees to complete on their own.

Please use the provided checklists to keep track of your progress. We estimate it will take you approximately 7-8 hours to complete all of these trainings. You will be paid for 8 hours worth of work on one of your first paychecks!
