Health Benefits

Full-time employees have a sixty day waiting period to be eligible for dental, medical, vision, group life, and disability benefits. Below is a summary of each. Details can be found in the plan documents.

Medical: The Club currently pays 100% of all premiums relating to the employee’s coverage. Employees pay for eligible family members.

Dental: The Club currently pays 100% of all premiums relating to the employee’s coverage. Employees pay for eligible family members.

Vision: The Club currently pays 100% of all premiums relating to the employee’s coverage. Employees pay for eligible family members.

Life Insurance: The Club pays for Group Life and Disability Insurance. employees pay for eligible family members.

Retirement Benefits

Employees who are 21 years of age and have completed one year of continuous employment with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley are eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement plan. An eligible employee is one who renders 1,000 hours of service within a twelve (12) month period beginning on their date of hire.

Eligible employees receive a discretionary match from the organization. Eligible employees may contribute through salary deferrals based on the plan’s deferral limit explained in the summary plan document. All employee contributions through salary deferrals are 100% vested.

Vesting Schedule for employer contributions is based on years of service:

  • Less than three years .................. 0%
  • Three years or more ................. 100%
Tuition Benefits
Any employee who receives their degree from an accredited college or university while employed for Boys & Girls Clubs will be eligible for a bonus. The bonus amounts vary by degree and are awarded for Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees.

An eligible employee must have been on staff for at least 12 months to receive the bonus. The degree must be relevant to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley areas of operation and must have been completed after the employee’s initial 12 months of tenure or afterward. Part-time and full-time staff are eligible for this program.
Childcare Benefits
Employees may use Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley’s services as long as there is availability in their child's age group and the desired Club location. Employee’s children must be enrolled with all proper paperwork completed before attendance.

To qualify for free childcare, employees must be active and receiving a paycheck each pay period. Active employees' regular tuition will be 100% funded if they choose to bring their own children to the Clubs.
