Meet Camilo

The Club is a great place to come and just be yourself,” exclaims 10-year-old Camilo, a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley – DeBusk Family Club. “Everyone here is so nice and we all know that we need to always treat each other with respect and kindness. I’m always happy to be at the Club.

The Club has a really great program called Power Hour, where the staff sit with us and help us if we are having a hard time with our homework. Reading is the most challenging subject for me in school, so during Power Hour, I received help to understand important things about reading like finding context clues and text evidence. Knowing these things has helped me a lot with my reading, and I’m starting to enjoy reading! My favorite books are The Bad Guys – it’s a series of 16 books that focuses around a group of animals that are thought of as bad, but they are actually good and do good deeds for society.”
