Meet Shannon

“The Club has helped me to go out of my comfort zone and try new things,” says 16-year-old Shannon, a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley – Regal Teen Center. “I’m pretty shy and the staff at the Club saw that and encouraged me to try new things to make friends. Some of the things I’m now doing include volunteering at my local church and helping with clean ups around the city. I like knowing that I’m working with others making a difference in my community.

Another thing that I’ve learned at the Club is to just relax and enjoy life. It’s easy to get really stressed out and discouraged with the things that are not going well in life. I try my hardest to always focus on the positive and be thankful for all the good in my life and to enjoy each moment.”
