Our Character & Leadership programs empower youth to become responsible, caring citizens while building essential skills to actively engage in the democratic process. Participants develop leadership abilities through opportunities to plan, make decisions, and contribute meaningfully to both the Club and their community. Through these experiences, they also celebrate our national heritage and grow into thoughtful leaders of tomorrow.
Scholars with Achievable Goals Youth Leadership Academy
The Scholars with Achievable Goals (SWAG) Youth Leadership Academy, in partnership with the University of Tennessee, is designed to inspire youth in our community by promoting UT’s Volunteer Values. This initiative encourages leadership and community service while fostering a sense of responsibility among participating members.
Youth of the Year
The Youth of the Year program is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s top recognition for Club members. Those who earn this title embody the Club’s core values of academic success, strong moral character, and community service. Through this competition, Club members gain valuable skills such as poise, public speaking, and self-confidence.
Torch Club
Torch Clubs are small-group leadership and service Clubs for youth ages 11-13. Through Torch Clubs, staff help guide members in building character at a key stage in their development. Members learn how to elect officers and work together to plan activities in four areas: service to the Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation.
