About Fred Lawson

Fred Lawson began his career at Blount National Bank in 1958. During his time in the banking industry, he has served in various capacities such as President of Blount National Bank, President of Tennessee National Bancshares, President & Chief Executive Officer of Bank of East Tennessee, President and Chief Executive Officer of BankFirst, Commissioner of the Department of Financial Institutions for the State of Tennessee and Chairman of BankEast.

He earned degrees from the University of Tennessee, Louisiana State University School of Banking and Harvard Institute for Financial Management. He is also the Chairman of the Blount County Economic Board.

Mr. Lawson is married to Sharon and they have three children – Terry L. Akins, Laura L. Rathbone and Kris W. Newvine and four grandchildren. He is a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church in Maryville, TN.


About Mayor Don Mull

Donald R. Mull has been the Mayor of the City of Alcoa since 1983. He has been a member of the Board of Commissioners since 1971, serving as Vice Mayor until 1983. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from Maryville College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

He worked in the banking industry for 35 years before retiring in 2001. Mayor Mull has served on the following organizations: Alcoa (TN) Regional/Municipal Planning Commission (since 1971) and Knoxville (TN) Transportation Planning Organization (since 1988).

Mayor Mull has served on numerous professional and civic organizations. He was presented with the Mayor of the Year award in Tennessee in 1995. Additionally, he served on the National League of Cities Transportation Infrastructure and Services Committee for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was appointed to the Small Cities Council in 2006.
