KNOXVILLE, TN – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley is proud to announce its completion of the BuildingBots program funded by a $30,000 ALCOA Foundation grant for 2015-16. As a result of the grant for this program, 162 Boys & Girls Club members were able to participate in hands-on STEM activities from eight Clubs including Carter, Fort Craig, Fort Loudoun Middle, Middlebrook, Norwood, Northridge Crossing, South Knox Elementary, and Vestal.
The BuildingBots Program incorporates robotic models and various forms of technology to facilitate the integrated concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.
“As a result of the generosity of the ALCOA Foundation, BuildingBots has been a tremendous success for our Club members,” said Dr. Polly Johnson of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. “The program has been an essential tool in reinforcing STEM concepts and applications.”
