Students visit customer call center, retail locations
KNOXVILLE, TN (March 18, 2016) – Today, U.S. Cellular hosted 30 Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley middle school members at its customer call center and retail locations for Career Day. The students heard from wireless experts about the history and future of the industry, as well as from department leaders about their job responsibilities.
The goal of Career Day is to show students the different jobs that are available in the wireless industry and how they range from sales to engineering. U.S. Cellular hopes to motivate youth in East Tennessee to explore career opportunities and encourage a more diverse workforce in the communities where they operate.
“Career Day offers a behind-the-scenes look at how a wireless company operates and all the types of people and positions that make us successful,” said Chris Stokes, business area sales manager for Tennessee and Career Day organizer. “U.S. Cellular is dedicated to supporting education, and we hope today inspired students to think more about their future and what they want to do.”
As part of the event, students met associates involved in customer service, network support, human resources, sales and engineering. They also toured the customer call center and retail locations, including stores at 8401 Kingston Pike and 11001 Parkside Drive.
“We hope today emphasized how important their education is,” Stokes said. “We want to help youth accomplish their goals and provide enriching experiences in addition to what they learn in the classroom.”
4G LTE not available in all areas. See uscellular.com/4G for detailed coverage info. 4G LTE service may be provided through King Street Wireless, a partner of U.S. Cellular. LTE is a trademark of ETSI.
