Heath Shuler will be the featured speaker at the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner on July 26.
Shuler, the 1993 Heisman Trophy runner-up while playing quarterback at Tennessee, went on to terms in both the NFL and the U.S. House of Representatives.
The 2016 GKSHOF induction class will be announced later. The annual event at the Knoxville Convention Center raises funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.
Tickets are available at www.gkshof.org for $150 each or $1,400 for a table of 10.
Shuler came to UT from Bryson City, N.C., and starred in 1992 and 1993. He deferred his senior year to enter the NFL draft. He played with Washington and New Orleans for four years before an injury ended his career.
Shuler later represented North Carolina’s 11th congressional district from 2007 to 2013. He currently works for Duke Energy.
